Loess Hills Audubon Society Bird-A-Thon

by Paul Roisen—Bird-A-Thon Czar, June 2, 2020

What a "rush" for me to arrive home after a week in Wichita, KS. A donation record amount had already been achieved and I was expecting a couple checks. Anna and I arrived home to seven additional letters addressed to: LHAS c/o Paul Roisen. Interestingly, only one was from someone I expected. The additional donations added $712.00 to our previous total.

New record of 194 species
New record of (so far) of $4004.80

Just in case there is still someone who wishes to send in a donation--WE WILL GLADLY ACCEPT anything more that comes in. Please make your check out to "The Loess Hills Audubon Society" and mail to: Loess Hills Audubon Society, c/o Paul Roisen, 4420 3rd Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106.

No further MailCHIMP report will be sent out regarding the 2020 Bird-A-Thon totals.

Final totals will be updated in our NEXT LHAS newsletter.

The Loess Hills Audubon Board of Directors will begin consideration of what conservation projects we will support for the 2020-2021 year. Please feel free to attend our summer planning session (date to be determined) and the next couple of board meetings to help us make good decisions.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR INCREDIBLE RESPONSE. We were blessed with 35+ donations ranging from $20.00 to four amounts over the $200.00 mark. One person pledged $5 for the first 50 species and $10 above 50 species (what I thought was $15 total)... BUT... it was for EACH species for a total of a $1690.00 donation. I am not easily surprised or shocked but...what can I say I was literally speechless (yes, I know most of you know that never happens). All I could do was SHOW the check to my wife. She read it wrong and I had to explain to her that she needed to add at least one more ZERO to what she read.

I am absolutely humbled by your generosity.
I am open for questions or comments 24/7 so please do not hesitate to contact me anytime.
