Ponca State Park will be hosting its annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC) on Friday, December 18, 2020. However, Game & Parks has dictated that the CBC be conducted under a limited contact protocol. This protocol is also in alignment with National Audubon Society's guidelines. This would mean the following changes to our usual procedures:
No assembly at the Park's Resource Center for territory assignment and instructions prior to the count. Assignments and instructions will be sent out previous to the count by email or text.
No lunch at the center at noon. Bring your own lunches for eating in the field.
No assembly for compilation at end of day. Though we usually do not gather at the end of day, the park will set a mailbox by the Resource Center's front door for depositing your checklists.
We are all grateful that this annual event will be held and that we will be able to participate much as usual.
If you would like to participate, please email Bill Huser with the following information: Your name, others in your party, preferred territory, the times you can be in the field and your cell number by Monday, December 14.
Instructions and assignments will be sent out, following the receipt of this info, by email or text. Contact and information during the count will be by group text while we are in the field.
