University of South Dakota ornithologist Dave Swanson returns to Loess Hills Audubon with a summary of research conducted by him, his research associates, and his students. This work compares spring and fall migrant bird diversity and abundance within reconstructed tallgrass prairies and CRP fields. Does the reconstructed tallgrass prairie at Spirit Mound allow migrants to successfully add fat during stopover?
Dave will also discuss the recent range expansion of Eastern Meadowlark into southeastern South Dakota as well as future research goals if a Motus tracking system is funded.
LHAS Board Meeting begins at 6:00 PM with Dave’s program beginning at 7:00 PM.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Enjoy the evening!
