With Saturday’s weather forecast calling for a 77% chance of rain, including thunderstorms, and Omaha’s forecast much the same, I believe it prudent to cancel tomorrow’s trip to Hitchcock Nature Center. Besides the inconvenience of the rain and the danger of lightning on the viewing tower, there is little chance there will be any movement of raptors in such conditions.
However, I still suggest that all willing and able meet at the prescribed time and place for some local birding, perhaps, surveying Graceland Cemetery for Crossbills or Bacon Creek for the elusive Limpkin. If rain hinders even these reduced plans, perhaps some coffee and comradery can fill the void.
Meet us at 8:00 AM, Saturday, the 23rd at the Singing Hills Walmart parking lot for this adventure. Look for us in the NW corner.
