LHAS Outing to Kramper Lake / Danish Alps

  • Kramper Lake at Danish Alps State Rec Area 9CF8+GP Hubbard, Nebraska United States (map)

Meet at 7:00 AM in the northwest corner of the parking lot (across from 4 Brothers Grill) at the Singing Hills Walmart.

Join Chapter Members as we search for waterfowl, loons and gulls at our second largest (but deepest) lake. Past Fall visitors have included Black, White-winged and Surf Scoters, Long-tailed Ducks, Trumpeter Swans, Western, Eared and Horned Grebes, Bonaparte’s and Herring Gulls, Common Loons, Bald Eagles and most of our more common waterfowl.

Our viewing will be from cars and the roadsides to limit disturbance and hypothermia. Scopes and tripods will aid our viewing and identification tips will be discussed. Limited birding on foot will be optional. Vault toilets are available year round at the lake. By 11:30 we will probably head to lunch at Old Dane Golf Club near Dakota City.

For more information, please contact Bill Huser, LHAS Vice-President & Outings Coordinator at 712-574-3107 or billfhuser@gmail.com

All LHAS outings are open to the public and offer an inviting way to begin birding and meet others with similar interests.
