Following our Summer outings’ theme of visiting new places, our August outing will take us into Minnesota on Saturday, August 21 for exploration, prairie study, geology and southbound avian migrants. Our primary destinations will be Blue Mounds State Park and Touch the Sky Prairie near Luverne.  This area is known for its Sioux quartzite outcroppings and the prairies that cling to the thin, rocky soil. Touch the Sky Prairie features a prairie waterfall accessible by hiking.

Please meet at 7:00am Saturday, August 21 at the Leeds Walmart parking lot for the 86 mile journey north on US Hwy-75. We will gather in the NORTHEAST corner of the lot. Consider bringing beverages and a picnic lunch so we can maximize our time in the field.

We will continue our covid precautions with car caravanning (minimal carpooling), social distancing and fresh air.
