‘The Grasslands’ are the home to Bison, Black-billed Cuckoos, Bobolinks, Grasshopper Sparrows and formerly to Iowa’s only nesting Black-billed Magpies. Join us as we tour the Preserve and study the landform, its botany and bird life. The Zales have graciously invited us to join them for lunch at their homestead, so you may want to spend the entire day exploring surrounding prairie tracts and new acquisitions.
We will meet at the public boat ramp at Chris Larsen Park on the Sioux City waterfront at 7:00 AM on Saturday, July 16 for the 15-minute drive to the Grasslands. Others wishing to meet us on site later in the morning, may contact Dotty Zales or myself for the group’s whereabouts.
More information will follow as this mid-summer treat approaches.
All LHAS outings are open to the public and offer an inviting way to begin birding and meet others with similar interests.
